    • Scanned for faults and found many codes stored in the convertible module and the rear electronics module indicating issues with both rear window motors. Tested wiring and checked for freeze frame data and found that the right rear set the code over 200 times and the left rear set a code 17 times. Possible issues with the REM, rear window motors or the wiring/pins. Fault for the convertible top open/close switch short circuit that happened one time. Suspect button was held too long and met the criteria for this fault. Recommend monitor for recurrence of fault code. Disassembled the rear interior panels to access window motor wiring and found that there was water under the rear seat cushion and there were a few gallons of standing water in the rear window passenger cavity that was up to the window motor due to the rocker panels being too close to the panel drain outlet. Drilled a hole in the rocker panel per BMW techincal bulletin and let the water drain. Cleared drains and checks for proper operation – OK.
